About me

EUNICE - PALETTE KNIFE ARTIST + CONTENT CREATOR

Thank you for stopping by.  My name is Eunice, the artist and founder of Eumicakes. I create floral arrangements on cakes with buttercream or chocolate using palette knives. I was a former middle school Science teacher but now a full time stay home mum and a hobby caker.

I've started out as a home baker baking pastries for family and friends and ventured into cake decorating only in 2018. I love decorating my cakes with flowers. My frustrations with piping flowers led me to discovering the art of palette knife painting. I fell in love with the technique from the moment I saw a cake being covered with painted flowers. I painted my first cake in  March 2019 and my love for the technique grew stronger since then.

Right now, I find joy in sharing this skill to everyone through free tutorials and online classes. My Instagram page is filled with tutorials of my paintings and I plan to continue to share more as long as I am able. I've tried and still trying my best to share easy to follow tutorials and techniques to help out those who love this technique and especially those who like to try painting their cakes using palette knives. For someone who has no formal training on visual arts or fine arts in general, having this platform is a huge motivation for me to learn more so I can share more.

'Eumi' is a name with different meanings. My son used to call me 'Eumi' when he was still little and couldn't pronounce well yet. It is also a word play of the name 'Mayumi', a common Filipino name with Japanese origin meaning someone who's kind and gentle just like an exquisite flower. And lastly, it is a portmanteau of the names 'Eunice' and 'Momi' (mommy).
